Result of the survey

Thanks a lot for the enthusiastic response by the blogging community. The survey has been closed. In a span of only two days a total of 104 responses were obtained.

The inital results are available here.

This is merely the inital compilation of data. No analysis yet. Still, hope you will find it interesting, if not useful :). Sorry for the inconsistent look and feel of the diagrams in the report. I just adopted the fastest method of making each one of them. Hence, ended up getting them from different tools. A later version of the report should be better.

Am planning few more surveys on blogging and bloggers. Hope to get even more enthusiastic response in future.

Any queries are welcome.

  1. Only 13% females and I always thot it is just the opposite.
Well Presented.and tell us also what grade did u got in this project. 🙂

  2. Thanks a lot people.

Vandy: Yeah, I am not sure what the smaller number of females represent. May be they just chose not to participate. There is always a response bias in any survey, when the participation is open and volntary. But we have to live with it.

  3. Haw Haw haw… one thing I gathered from the results is that most of us don’t listen to other’s opnion 🙂 Other’s opinion doesn’t seem to affect us at all. We just go ahead and do/buy whatever pleases us.

  4. Well done!!!

Are you using it as a part of your course work? Would be a nice change from all the standard surveys on bikes, shampoos and what-nots.

  5. We did a project on brand revitalization strategy of Amitabh Bachchan (another group did it for BJP) in ProdMan (Prof. M Jha).

You could give it a shot. They ain’t all that “unsporting” as they seem to be 🙂

  6. Very interesting. And thanks for doing this. I just had a quick look, for excuse me if I missed it. But what was the total number of respondents? Also, would you consider posting the raw data somewhere so that other might also try their hands at any corelations/analysis they might want to play with?

  7. Total number of respondets = 104 (Have mentioned is it the post. Missed out in the report. Thanks for pointing out.

I am afraid, can not provide the raw data since that would be the violation of “individual data will be kept strictly confidential and data will be reported only in aggregate.”

However, I am planning to do more analysis myself. If you want a particular analysis to be done, let me know. I will do it and report it.

  8. Thanx for the results. Results r interesting indeed. I think the last i.e. influence on decision can be summarized in one graph itself, with categories on X-axis and each category having three bars each. (partly affcted, completley affected, not at all affected). That will make the graph easy to understand, interpret and compare.

Interesting thing is that any kind of buying like software, game, PDs, laptop, durables is not majorly affected by blogs. As this blog survey was taken mostly by desis, so it represents the desi mindset. In India, most of the buying is in-the-shop and not online. Thus in a way it is dependent on direct person-to-person views & salesmanship. People dont listen to views posted on blogs or reviews posted on net. While in US, purchasing is mostly done on internet and people give importance to online reviews like the ones on C-net, amazon, epinions etc. However, the group of people was too small to generate any kind of genralized views.
