I wish…

Sometimes I wish
That I knew you

Only as a poet, an author,
A soldier, a philosopher,
A painter, a singer,
A musician, an actor,
An engineer, administrator,
A lawyer, a doctor.

And that I could not
See the human beneath
That role you play.

The human
That’s insecure,
Doesn’t matter what
His accomplishments are.
The human
That’s arrogant,
Doesn’t matter what
His shortcomings are.
The human
That will kill, back-stab
For a little bit of
That extra elusive security.
The human
That won’t do the right thing
Even when he knows
What it is.

You produce
Beautiful poetry,
Entertaining text.
You create a safety net
For the rest.
You ask
Intelligent questions,
Create a mirror of society.
You produce
Soul-rendering songs,
Recreate subtlest emotions,
Create the unthinkable,
Manage unmanageable,
Prove anything,
Save lives beyond redemption.

I wish I saw just your doings,
Just your creations.
And not the human beneath
The role you play.

  1. So True and well written. πŸ™‚ We all like (or dislike) the outer side of a person. The inner side is always masked. It is very unlikely that we would like somebody for their inner hidden personality and dislike the outer self. We all love a good illusion and for most of us living in a brighter illusion serves us better than to realize the darker human beneath.

  2. ‘Life is a stage… ‘ – The roles that our ‘true essence’, play in our flow of life.. is countless…. ‘by knowing which, we know everything…’ !! and that ‘ll b the end of our life..
