Best Books :)

The book fascinated him, or more exactly it reassured him. In a sense it told him nothing that was new, but that was part of the attraction. It said what he would have said, if it had been possible for him to set his scattered thoughts in order. It was the product of a mind similar to his own, but enormously more powerful, more systematic, less fear-ridden. The best books, he perceived, are those that tell you what you know already.

  1. Exactly!

So well said. It kind of makes it clear why I like Kundera’s unbearable lightness of being. I always explained my experience with my favotire books as – they tend to have a healing effect on me. They tell me its okay! I find a companion the author who thinks the same thoughts, feels the same feelings but when it comes to expression is far more advanced. If I were to re-interpret the excerpt I would say that I love reading myself :)…talk about ego
