Reliance’s White Face

There is a Reliance Web World on my way to home from the office. Nothing extraordinary. There would be one and more on almost everybody’s way to home from the office (provided there is a decent amount of distance between the two 🙂 ). At least in a city like Bangalore.

But while in the initial days, it used to be very noticeable, something changed recently. When I actively looked for the web-world for changing my pre-paid connection to a post-paid one, I realized that I am not finding it anywhere. Had I taken something else to be Web World earlier? Or has it really disappeared? Then one day I drove even more slowly and found it in its new Avatar. With that new White Background, it is so difficult to locate it. The thin red strip in the letters can not substitute that eye-catching green colour you are used to.

logo_reliance1.jpgWondering what has been the reasoning behind that change? Even if a change was required in line with business reorganization and all, why white? Now I locate Reliance Web World by locating a store of a grocery chain in front of it with its bright red background!! Not all locations would be as lucky though, or would they be?

  1. Not only it is bad choice of color and hard to identify with earlier logo. I did not like the design too..they should have put more effort in it.

  2. Hi,
what ever be the graphical design, but no prize for guessing, Anil want to differentiate its Relience from the Mukesh Relience, thus this move, changing previous log.

People will soon become use-to with this logo too.

All the best for new campaign.

  3. White stands for purity.(sic)

God help purity. God clean up balance sheets. God tackle corruption and politics and tapped mobile phones and brotherly love and 1400 other investment companies for stock market activity.

We, meanwhile, will think white and big. Bigger. Bigger than Big B.

  4. Previous logo highlights “R” i.e. “Reliance” with a glowing symbol of flame (again a embedded R), symbolizing petrochemical industry or spreading light across. It first needed a change for Anil !

Current logo highlights “A” i.e. “Apex” ( Landor – the designer, says so) , anyway it highlights “Anil” and “Ambani” too :). Using the bright red nicely in Logo has followed the same red aggressive colour as Kingfisher’s did. Size of “e” as equal to a capital alphabet symbolizes openess.

Like their earlier “blue big flame” as “quick logo”, hope they will make “A” as “quick logo” very soon.

Although trying to be a indenpendent logo, it has clear essence of “Dhirubhai’s original logo”.
