Education – Not Entertainment

I think it was rightly put by our instructor of “Communications for Management” in the class. She said something like this (certainly not verbatim, as I do not recall the exact words!)-

“We try to make it as interesting as possible for you. But please understand that it is education, not entertainment. It is likely to get monotonous or heavy at times. There is no way out.”

Couldn’t have been put better!

  1. Sorry,

“Physics is like sex: sure, it may give some practical results, but that’s not why we do it.”
    – R P Feynman in Humour magazine

It’s the same for Education – real education, that is.

  2. I don’t remember when i ever felt being educated in a lecture and not felt entertained. Normally none of the subject topics are boring.
Getting bored depends on three factors:
    1) Capacity Of Teacher
    2) Interest of Student
    3) Prior Knowledge of the subject.

And I think third factor is most important in your case because whole MBA is all about reiteration of common known ideas.
